Eddu 2011
In 1999, the Distillerie des Menhirs started producing whisky and opted to use buckwheat, which is particularly complex to malt and yields much less than barley (1.3 kg for a bottle compared to 0.8 kg for a barley whisky). This choice was motivated by the desire to make a whisky in line with the Breton terroir and culture. It will give birth to EDDU (which means buckwheat in Breton), the first buckwheat whisky in the world.
Tasting Notes
Distilled in 2011, the cask selected for VERSION FRANÇAISE is a perfect blend of centuries of cognac expertise and the strong personality of the Breton terroir. This single cask is characterised by apple and pear aromas that evoke the aromatic palette of traditional Breton apple brandies. This rich whisky offers exotic, pastry-like aromas without ever forgetting its original raw material: buckwheat.
