Blavier 2003 Version Française

Since 2020, Version Française, a range dedicated to exceptional French spirits, has been meeting producers across the country and showcasing their expertise. In 2023, to mark the 40th anniversary of French whisky (1983-2023), Version Française is unveiling a true rarity dating from 2003. This 20-year-old single cask was distilled in a pot still built by a renowned pot maker from the early 20th century, P. Blavier et Cie. Blavier 2003 is a precious reminder of an era
when there were only a handful of whisky producers in France, and of which only fifteen or so barrels remain today.

Tasting Notes

Profile : Rich and heady. Chocolate, blackberry, tea.
Nose : Smooth and balanced. The first nose reveals chocolate and sweetness (rice pudding). On aeration, a red fruit jam takes over, bringing freshness to the olfactory palette.
Palate : Unctuous and expressive. The chocolatey attack on the palate evolves towards lively roasted and saline notes. Flavours of red fruit tea add voluptuousness to a harmonious finish. Aeration releases flavours of orange and clementine.
Finish : Full and evolving. The start of the finish drifts towards fruity regions (apple, grape, blackberry). Then, with grace, these fruity flavours create a clear link with the world of Jura wines.
