Alpenglow 2015

Founded in 2002 by Vincent Gachet, the Dauphiné craft brewery is located in Saint-Martin-d’Hères near Grenoble. Between 2011 and 2015, with the help of Gilles Gaudet, a well-known itinerant distiller, he distilled the equivalent of two casks. Unable to reconcile beer and whisky production, he set up the trading company AlpSpirits in 2016 and bought four barrels of peated whisky from the Lorraine distillery
Rozelieures distillery, to be bottled under his own brand.

Tasting notes

From one of these four casks, with a phenol content of 35 ppm, this version was first matured in an oloroso sherry cask, then transferred to a cask containing Pineau des Charentes before being matured in a PX barrel. Sprinkled with fruity, floral and even exotic sequences, its aromatic and taste palette gives pride of place to peat and its smoky, medicinal, viandé and ashy tones.
