Aikan 2017
Aïkan means “marriage” in the local language of the Martinique natives. This ambitious project aims to age European whiskies in the tropical climate of the West Indies, particularly from France as part of the Version Française range.
Tasting Notes
Selected by Benoit Albanel, the founder of Aïkan, this version, produced by a famous distillery in north-eastern France, was aged in new French and American oak barrels before being matured in a barrel containing rum in the tropical climate of Martinique. Wonderfully toasted, this version allows the remarkably fruity and floral character of an otherwise smooth distillate to be fully expressed.
